PAKISTAN In a first, transgender persons issued driving licenses in Rajanpur

**RAJANPUR, PAKISTAN - ** In a groundbreaking move, the Rajanpur police department has issued motorcycle and rickshaw driving licenses to transgender persons for the first time, marking a significant step towards inclusivity and empowerment for this marginalized community. This initiative aims to provide transgender individuals with employment opportunities and enhance their economic prospects.

Previously, transgender persons in Rajanpur faced discrimination and limited access to education and employment opportunities.

Many were forced to resort to begging on the streets to make a living. However, the police's decision to issue driving licenses reflects a growing recognition of the need for social inclusion and equal opportunities for all members of society.

Before receiving their licenses, transgender individuals underwent training by police personnel to ensure their proficiency in motorcycle and rickshaw driving. The training covered various aspects of road safety and traffic rules.

Upon receiving their licenses, transgender individuals expressed their gratitude to the police department and their determination to utilize their newfound skills to earn a respectable livelihood. They emphasized that their primary goal is to gain financial independence and contribute to society in a meaningful way.

The issuance of driving licenses to transgender persons in Rajanpur is a commendable initiative that sets a precedent for other cities and regions in Pakistan to follow. It demonstrates a commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
